      If you qualify for Breaking into Print, you’ll be paired—as I was—with a nationally published author or professional editor as your personal mentor. You’ll learn by doing—that is, by writing potentially saleable material starting with your first assignment.

     Although your initial efforts may be clumsy, your mentor’s expert guidance and enthusiastic support and suggestions written right on your manuscript help you to develop increasingly polished and professional skills.

      You’ll discover how to “mine” your everyday experiences, as well as your observations, memories, and imagination, for potentially publishable writing.

      You’ll develop a close one-on-one working relationship with your mentor that enables you to find your individual “voice” as a writer, build your strengths, and eliminate weaknesses.

You’ll learn how to write the kinds of stories and articles that editors are looking for.

      Your personal mentor will help you to turn the raw material of your writing into the kinds of professionally crafted stories and articles that editors are looking for.

      In addition, your mentor will guide you step-by-step to the niche in fiction or nonfiction that suits your writing strengths and interests, and show you how to market your finished work.

      As an added advantage, there are no classes to go to; you work at home, at your own pace, on your schedule.
